HOMOPHONES. ARE THEY HERE OR THEIR?

Did you notice the incorrect homophone in the title of this post or the ones in the meme (holy and wholly)? Homophone words share the same pronunciation, regardless of how they are spelled.
We’ve all seen someone use “their” instead of “there” or “they’re.” I’ve done the same thing (and not on purpose), and I dare say, you have as well. It’s easy to do when our minds and fingers are racing to put down our thoughts.
But be careful when you’re in the editing phase. Spellcheck will not always pick up homophones, and you don’t want to send your work off with them not corrected.
