BIO

MY FAMILY

I was born in Columbus, Ohio more years back than I care to admit (OK. it was 1958!). I am the youngest of four children. I have two older sisters and had an older brother who was killed in the Vietnam War in 1972. If my parents were still alive, they would be over 100 years old. Where has all the time gone?

MY CHILDHOOD THROUGH MARRIAGE

I was raised on a farm with more animals than we could count. My mother says I was a quiet child and kept a messy bedroom. Times have changed. I am now quite the talker, and my husband calls me a neat freak.

I lived in the same house until I married my high school sweetheart in 1978. I have resided in ten states and 22 homes courtesy of Uncle Sam (Jeff retied from the Air Force in 2009) and his attending Bible college and pastoring for six years.

MY EDUCATION

While Jeff earned his Theology Degree at Ambassador Baptist College (Lattimore, NC), my daughter earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music, and I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Ministries. Thirty years after Jeff and I graduated from high school (1976), the three of us graduated from college. We were the first father/mother/daughter combo in the college’s history!

MY WRITING JOURNEY

I have always loved the written word. If you’re a writer, you understand the incredible joy of a well-crafted sentence, a tangled plot unraveled at the end of a story, or a vivid description that slips off your fingers onto the keyboard. It’s better than bacon!

Like most first first-time authors, my premier novel is hidden in a plastic tote in the back of a closet. After burying that auspicious tome, I began writing CASSANDRA AND THE COWBOY and worked on it while I raised three children and supported my pastor husband in the ministry. My hard work is about to pay off. Cassandra and the rest of the Triple P gang, are about to see the publishing light of day (April 2019) with the help of Jennifer Farey of Journey Fiction. (JUANITA AND THE OUTLAW saw publication in December 2019, followed by MADDIE AND THE TEXAS RANGER) in spring of 2021.

MY OTHER ROLES

I consider my most important role is that of a “Child of the King,” but I love being a wife, mom, and Mamaw (I have seven grandchildren). I live in beautiful northeast TN close to my daughter and her family, our church, a myriad of restaurants (Jeff and I love to eat out), and, of course, Wal-Mart.
