Will you be in heaven? This is the question of the ages and the most important one you will ever ask. If you are not a Christian (also known as being born again or saved), you do not possess the Holy Spirit of God. (Romans 8:9 …Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.)
If you have never asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart and save you, or you’re not sure you are saved, prayerfully read the following and allow the Holy Spirit to show you your need.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name (Jesus Christ) under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
1 John 5:11, 12 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
The only way to spend eternity with God in heaven is through His Son, Jesus Christ. (John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me). Nothing outside of faith in Jesus Christ can save; not baptism, church membership, nor good works. (Ephesians 2:8, 9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.)
Here is the Bible answer to the age-old question, “What must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30)
- You must realize you are a sinner. You cannot live up to God’s perfect standard. (Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.)
- You must believe in Christ. Believing in Christ is simply trusting what He said in His Word. (John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.)
- You must confess your sins and ask Christ to save you. Confessing is simply calling upon or praying to the Lord. (Romans 10:9, 10, 13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness: and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.)
Right now, you can call upon God to forgive your sins and save you. He longs to do that. (2 Peter 3:9 …not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.) Just talk to Him as you would a friend. Tell Him what’s on your heart.
Then rest upon God’s promise. (John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God).
Salvation cost God His Son. (John 3:16a For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…), but salvation is free to all who believe. (John 3:16b. …that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.) Won’t you accept this free gift today, so you can know for sure heaven will be your home one day? (John 14:2, 3 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.)
